The book of Daniel gives, in chapter 2, and overview of prophecy, from the time of Babylon down through the end of time. King Nebuchadnezar has a dream about a metal image. A head of gold, chest and arms of silver, belly and thighs of brass, legs of iron, and feet of iron mixed with clay (reinforced concrete?). A stone, cut out with hands falls on the image, and breaks it into powder for the wind to blow away. This stone then fills the whole earth. The head of gold represents Babylon, the chest and arms of silver represent the Medes and Persians, the belly and thighs of brass represent Greece, the legs of iron represent the Roman Empire, and the feet of Iron mixed with clay represent Europe from the fall of the Roman Empire to the present. The stone cut out without hands represents God's kingdom which will strike down all previous governments and false religions, and God will rule over the earth.
